At first, I made sure the photo's levels were done right, as if they weren't, the photo would look weird and the lighting wouldn't look good. I changed the blacks slightly, to make the image a bit darker than it was as it was too bright.
The next thing I did was select the 'spot healing brush tool' to select any imperfections as the person on the front of a magazine always has clear skin to promote their magazine and make it look as good as possible.
